The Shattering - Book Review

I wasn't really expecting to like this book - but I did! :D

 4.5 out of 5 stars!

It's really unique, and thrilling without being cliche! It's set in New Zealand, so that was an interesting setting change, and they actually use cultural references! (They have a glossary at the end).

It's a well written story about a town where nothing bad seems to happen, no rain, no snow, no drugs. Anyway, the only thing bad that happens is that teenage boys, always the oldest and one every year, kill themselves during the winter - and it's been going on for ten plus years.

Then three teens meet each other and decide that it's not a coincidence, and set out to find the killer :)

Really good! I recommend it!! :D

Frank Sinatra

For some odd reason I'm on a Frank Sinatra kick right now. Watching his movies, listening to his music.

I'm watching 'The Man With The Golden Arm' right now, and I'll tell you how that goes :) It's pretty good so far - even though it's in black and white and the sounds a little fizzy.

This movie is supposed to be pretty dark and gritty, and I really want to see how it plays out :) Frank himself said that he thought he should have gotten an award for this movie, and a lot of people say that he deserved it. It's been hailed the best performance of his career! :D

I watched 'Guys and Dolls' quite some time a go - and I have to say that I enjoyed it. I found Frank's character adorable, SQUEE! :D

On top of that - he's got (or had) an amazing voice. Anyway - you should look him up - and check out one of his movies!! :D

That's an order!! ;)

Flowers - Quick Snaps

Well. I like to take pictures. Especially nature. I love nature. It doesn't move and run away - or make noise.

It's nice. :)

Anyway - two quick snaps of flowers at my old house :) I like the one with the tree in it better...

Hope you like them!

Cats and Pets

Most people have some sort of animal that they like, frogs, dogs, sheep, whatever. I like cats and bats. No lie. And since I can't have bats as pets, I have to settle for cats.

I love cats. I love how independent they are, and how they are loyal to mostly one person. Dogs like almost everyone. And cats don't bark. I hate barking. It's one of the noises that I just can not stand. It doesn't matter what kind of dog. It makes me so angry. Cat's purr though, and I love cats purring.

Anyway, I leave you with several pictures of my family's cats as kittens. Everyone loves kittens, right? ;)

Goo Goo Dolls

Listening to the Goo Goo Dolls today and I love them. Not only are they fantastic singers, but their music is original, and the lyrics actually mean something. I would sincerely suggest that you take a minute out of your day, and listen to one of their songs - I would suggest, "Iris".

One of my favourite bands of all time.

Cappuchino and Cake Craving....

Craving a cappuccino and some cake right now. Mmmm. And pictures of delicious food keep coming up all over my tumblr dashboard - it's just not fair! Also cafeteria's don't serve anything as tasty as this...

AHHH! It's just not fair... I want some so bad..and the pictures look so artsy - I can't help but think that my brain power would increase if I had some. :) *smacks lips*

The Titanic - Amazing Movie

*MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS*

Well, I finally watched Titanic last night, and I have to say that I enjoyed it. I was expecting it to be cheesy, or corny, but I actually really enjoyed the way it was presented, and the acting as well.

There were only two things that put me off the movie, one - Leonardo Di Caprio looked more like her younger brother than romantic interest, and two - the ship didn't look big enough in some scenes.

Don't get me wrong though - I love Leonardo Di Caprio, and I think that he did a fantastic job as usual, I can't think of anything about his performance that he needed to have improved! It was amazing to watch!

I'm not usually a big Kate Winslet fan, as I didn't enjoy her in 'The Reader' that much, but I did think that she did a great job in this movie. Her character was a little annoying at the beginning, but she became likable, so I liked her character.

My favourite character was First Officer William Murdoch, played by Ewan Stewart,  - he was loading boats at the end. I just about cried when he shot himself after accidentally killing someone in the crowd after saying only women and children - His salute -- arg. I just about broke down. He needed more screen time. I loved him. I wanted his character to be developed further.

Fabrizio! Tee-hee. He amused
me through the entire movie. Not only was he funny, but he was really gentlemanly while they were all partying down in steerage in one part of the movie. His accent was adorable as well.

I felt so sorry for the character Thomas Andrews - who was the builder of the Titanic. He was just so utterly devastated the the ship was sinking. I felt that it was totally unfair because he told them that the ship would sink, and that it was going to sink, but no one really took him seriously. The fact that he didn't even try and get off the ship really upset me as well.

Above are just some other characters I really liked - and I have to say, I don't usually like this number of characters in one movie.

Anyway - overall I think it is a must-see movie, not just because of the acting, but because of the costumes/props/ scenery, special affects and music  and I loved it! Am planning on buying it soon! :D
